3 Networking Tips to Note for your next Event!
Whether you are going for an event, conference, blind date, etc. Here are quick networking tips to note.
These 3 tips work for introverts, extroverts or ambiverts.
First and foremost, the mindset to go with is you are going to this event to make friends (build relationships) and not just to sign deals.
It’s always nice to establish a connection before signing deals.
However, you have to be friendly and believe you are likeable to make friends.
Having that in mind,
Here are ways to accomplish that ;
It’s a universal language. Asides that, it’s welcoming, it makes you approachable.
When you smile, it does not only lighten your mood, it lightens those around you .
It exudes positivity. No one wants to stay around a negative gloomy energy.
Moreover, It’s doesn’t cost you to smile .
2. Exchange Pleasantries
Half the time, there are also people right in the room that are reserved too.
You do not want to always sit, waiting on someone to come to your rescue.
There’s someone else in the room that’s as scared as you are, you can walk up to that person sitting or standing by the corner and start up a conversation .
Or you can join an ongoing conservation .
JUST DO IT!
Show interest in what everyone has to say, by asking questions and listening attentively.
It leaves an impression that you genuinely care and brings about a connection.
Lastly, you don’t have to be an extrovert to Network at an event .
You only need confidence and if that is not present then FAKE IT .
Yes it works. People might not tell, especially when you are meeting them for the first time.
Ever heard of ‘Fake it till you make it’ I bet you have.
So, Fake the Confidence till you are Confident (I often tell myself this too) and it works!
Put your heads up ! Shoulders high! Smile ! Walk with confidence. You’ve got this.
Also, you never know who you will meet that might be of help to you tomorrow. So Relax!
